Ventures

Projects, organizations, and ideas of William Pan

TUNL Industries

Co-founder, President, & Chief Engineer

Bringing Sandworm from Dune into real life. TUNL Industries was developing a self tunneling untethered robot for defense and commercial applications. Won a $1.25M contract from AFWERX and raised a preseed from 1517 Fund and Champion Hill Ventures.

Discipulus Ventures

Entrepreneur in Residence

Discipulus Ventures is cultivating a visionary vanguard of young founders from top universities to solve the hardest problems in America. Through a week-long cohort program, value-driven founders receive mentorship from industry leaders and gain access to a network of investors and advisors to build transformative solutions in hardtech and defense tech.

Bosch Ventures

Venture Capital Intern

Conducted due diligence on startups in additive manufacturing, cloud infrastructure, robotic fleets, and silicon carbide. Modeled cap tables, IRR, and 5-year projections for companies in global deal flow across 6 offices for Bosch.

health{hacks}

Co-Founder & Chief Executive Officer

health{hacks} was a 48 hour healthcare innovation event dedicated to connecting people from around the world to change the world. Our goal is to bring people from a wide variety of backgrounds and fields to provide new perspectives and collaborate on projects.

Inventions, builds, and research by William Pan

High-resolution stereolithography: Negative spaces enabled by control of fluid mechanics

Undergraduate Research Assistant @ Stanford University DeSimone Lab

Injection continuous liquid interface production (iCLIP) technology revolutionizes stereolithography by mitigating overcuring in 3D-printed microstructures. Through precise control of fluid mechanics, iCLIP enables high-resolution fabrication of complex microfluidic devices with enhanced design freedom, overcoming historical limitations in negative space resolution.

OccFacto: Controllable Part-Based Mesh Generation with Occupancy Networks

CS 236 Final Project with Aniketh Iyengar @ Stanford University

OccFacto is a novel model that: (1) takes an input of part-segmented styles of 3D objects, (2) learns an implicit function that outputs occupancy to represent 3D objects as meshes, (3) enables generation of coherent and plausible 3D objects with part-based control
For this project, we designed and implemented a digital music synthesizer capable of playing chords, harmonic tones, and dynamic audio effects. We also integrated a PMOD numpad for real-time note control. The system was implemented using Verilog and simulated on an FPGA.

Moonwalker Brain Computer Interface

CS 107E Final Project @ Stanford University

Inspired by CTRL Labs, Moonwalker reads EMG signals from the wrist to allow for seamless interaction between the real and digital world. Truly fullstack (designed wrist band, circuitry, backend control, frontend software).

Kinesthetic Lattice Programmable (KLaP) Tape

Undergraduate Research Fellow @ Stanford University Wu Tsai Human Performance Alliance & DeSimone Lab

Kinesthetic latticed programmable (KLaP) tape aims to solve patellofemoral pain through its customized and programmable mechanical properties and robust adhesion with triggerable on-demand detachment for after use.

Injection Continuous Liquid Interface Production

Undergraduate Research Assistant @ Stanford University DeSimone Lab

Injection continuous liquid interface production accelerates 3D printing speeds 5 to 10-fold over current methods, can utilize more viscous resins, and can readily pattern an object with different resins.

Biocompatible Hydrogel Ostomy Adhesive

Independent Researcher @ Northwood High School

The hydrogel ostomy adhesive (HOA) is a novel hydrogel patch that strongly adheres and creates a fluid-tight seal to prevent ostomy bag leaks that plauge almost all ostomy patients.

Coinception

ME 102 Final Project @ Stanford University

A coin sorter that requires 3 inches of vertical input motion that is reset by a spring. The input motion is further translated into rotational motion to sort the coins into sorted compartments.
The website you are on right now made with React, Framer Motion, various Javascript Libraries. It was made to document the three sides of William (the globetrotter, the explorer, and the painter).
A vintage 1970's Centurion LeMans Mixte bicycle refurbrished, painted, and cleaned as the 2022 Dreams Don't Die Bicycle used for transport at Stanford University Campus.
A zine made in the summer of 2021 documenting the events and thoughts presented by William's alter-ego racing through a modern psychedelic iridescent metropolis.
